Pal Zileri-SG Privet Banking Sailing team defeats its leading position during the Commodore Cup
Kristian Tzanov and his crew had a superb day on board of Sovereign sailing yacht. The team took third position after dramatic and unexpected incident with the spinnaker of the boat.
DOSC, DUBAI April 25, 2008 – Team Pal Zileri-SG Privet Banking proves once again that they are serious opponent with skilled and experienced crew on board. After brilliant start the team took second position leaving behind 24 sailing boats.
The Commodore Cup took place along Jumeriah coast, with 26 sailing boats.
Despite the nearly perfect weather conditions, with wind touching 16 knots North/West and 4feet waves under clear blue sky and sunshine the race was tough challenge.
The three leaders were Francis Carr sponsored by Lloyds TSB, EPI and Pal Zileri-SG Privet Banking sailing team.
After second downwind Pal Zileri-SG Privet Banking had dramatic incident where the spinnaker of the boat got torn and they had to stop in order to fix the boat. Unfortunately they could not recuperate the time and the handicap and finished third overall.
The event saw a lot of spectators on shore and off shore, who enjoyed the lovely weather and the spectacular race
On 10th of May, 2008 it would be held the last Commodore Cup race organized by DOSC with major sponsor of all the events EPI
